Cantillon and Writers Block
I've experienced quite a bit of writers block over the past few months. This is the first time
I have felt this way since launching the blog.
I think there has been less time in my life to sit down and reflect in peace.
I wrestled with how to balance responsibilities
and set time aside
for writing.
Slowing down is a luxury.
Once I did,
an old quote rang true,
"Flavour appears once movement stops."
I haven't written anything,
let alone anything about beer in months.
Somewhat recently,
I stumbled
upon a beautiful beer bar
during a very brief layover in Paris...

They had all these bottles of Cantillon...
but I knew all I could do was take a few pictures.

I must have looked like a madman taking so many photos of the fridge in this tasting room
They had very few American imports...
Imagine my surprise to see something from my hometown all the way out in Paris.

This Peanut Butter Cup Speedway Stout is displayed among some of the rarest bottles of Cantillon in the world
It reminded me how fortunate I am
to be from San Diego.

I did manage a pour or two on draft!
But for any concerned...
I am alive and well.
There is always more beer.
I'll write again soon.
Coldfire & Warm Hearts
Nearly a year ago I made a trip to Corvallis, Oregon to visit the OHBA (Oregon Hops and Brewing Archives) located at OSU (Oregon State University). Well, in order to get there, I first flew into the city of Eugene. This town would turn out to be quite a highlight

My eyes dart wildly as I size up the plate that is placed in front of me– I decipher the eclectic shapes, colors and aromas. It is beautifully plated with a variety of cheeses, fruits, pickles, and nuts. Charcuterie sometimes reminds me of the old Eye-Spy books I read

No, really. Try it.
